We provide the following information to all candidates. Most, if not all of it, is probably second nature to you, but we provide it as a refresher. Making the extra effort to do your very best can make the difference! So, we encourage all job seekers to make the extra effort to read through these materials.
The Resume
Bring a couple of copies of your resume to the interview. Review your resume in advance so the details are fresh in your mind. Be prepared to elaborate on any of the information presented in your resume. Also have a copy of your references handy in case the company requests them. It's a good idea to carry a folder with you so you can take notes or store written materials collected during the course of your interview. Always remember to bring a pen or pencil and a business card if you have one.
Appropriate Dress
Dress for the interview, not for the job. Regardless of the dress code of the company or the position, you should dress for an interview. For men, this means suit and tie. Women should wear a business suit. The company will assume that they are seeing your interpretation of how to dress professionally for a very important business meeting. Be sure that they are right.
Arriving for the Interview
Get directions at least a day before your interview, so you don't get lost and arrive late. If possible take the time to drive to the precise location where you will be interviewing in advance, so that you will know the route and be at ease on the day of the interview. Allow extra time for unforeseen circumstances. Always bring some cash to pay for parking. Never ask an employer to validate your parking stub, or reimburse you for parking - you'll create a negative impression.
